We have expertise in nanotechnologies for biomedical applications and preparation methodologies of different nanoparticles of metals, like gold and silver nanoparticles, inorganic particles of nano hydroxyl phosphates, such as hydroxyapatite, pure and multi-substituted, and nano silicates, surface modification strategies as well as in their composites with various polymers, innovative biomaterials, bio-implants, bone cements, bone grafts, dental biomaterials, orthopaedic biomaterials and bio-mimetic scaffolds for cells cultures.

We have skills in physical, chemical and biological characterization of nanoparticles, nanomaterials and biomaterials as well as in supramolecular assemblies, Langmuir-Blodgett technique (LBT), LB mono- and multilayers, thin films, and multifunctional nanostructured materials, based on collagen, chitosan, different peptides and proteins, amino acids, fatty acids, lecithins, cholesterol, lipids, anti-oxidants, beta-cyclodextrin, quercetin, starch, natural pigments and drugs (e.g., anaesthetics, doxorubicin, resveratrol) with applications in nanoscience and biotechnology.

In our Excellency Research Center in Physical Chemistry, we have experience in R&D, nano materials and biomaterials platform, colloidal systems, physical chemistry characterization and properties, surface analysis, imaging using AFM, STM, TEM and SEM, thermodynamics and DSC, advanced FTIR, Raman and UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, biophysics of thin films, Langmuir-Blodgett technique and molecular modelling for supramolecular multifunctional systems.

Research interests: Sustainable nanotechnologies for biomedical applications, green chemistry for nanoparticle production, biomaterials for bone diseases, bio-ceramics, nanomaterials, metallic nanoparticles, nanoscale materials for drug delivery, multi-scale composite materials, bio-composites, biomimetic self-assembled scaffolds, porous bio-resorbable scaffolds, regenerative medicine, cancer cellular therapy, tissue engineering, orthopedic and dental science.
