The current trend of global population increase, industrialization and technological development sustain and deepen two of the most important environmental and economic issues: rising CO2 emissions and accumulation of waste printed circuit boards (WPCBs). In this context, the current project proposes the development of an advanced system with flexible operation capacities for copper recovery and power generation by recycling of WPCBs.


The project is in agreement with the main research domain "Physical Sciences and Engineering", subdomain "Products and Processes Engineering", main research area "Environmental engineering, e.g. sustainable design, waste and water treatment, recycling, regeneration or recovery of compounds, carbon capture & storage" since by its implementation enables the recycling of WPCBs through the recovery of Cu and offers a promising solution for flexible power generation.
