ยท Project objectives Main objective
The objective of NanoSilva project is the development of new
advanced nanomaterials, combining the effect of silver nanoparticles and
organic antimicrobial biomolecules against pathogenic microorganisms with
the effect of nano hydroxyapatite on osteogenic differentiation of human
stem cells, for biomedical use in bone repair and regeneration. The major objective of this project is the development of novel synthesis strategies to obtain the narrow size distribution of AgNPs. Then, an important objective is the functionalization of AgNP surface with biomolecules, such as antibiotics or antimicrobial compounds (AMC), by adsorption and self-assembly approach. Another major objective is centred on the development of advanced nanomaterials based on AgNPs and nano hydroxyapatite (HAP), either by their mixture at various concentrations, resulting AgNPs/HAP nanomaterials, or by the direct synthesis of AgNPs on HAP particles (AgNPs-AMC) with their improved antimicrobial effect on pathogenic microorganisms as well as with enhanced effect on osteogenic differentiation of human stem cells, having impact on bone regeneration, as evidenced in our preliminary experiments.
Antimicrobial characterization of the new advanced NanoSilva
composites is one of the most important specific objectives with impact in
the identification of applicability field. The antimicrobial behavior as
well as bone regeneration in presence of AgNPs and HAP mixtures will be
followed within this specific objective. |
