The research group is part of the
Research Center on Fundamental and Applied Heterochemistry (METALOMICA), composed of three laboratories: Applied Heterocyclic Organic and Organometallic Chemistry (AHOOC), The Chemistry of Low-Coordinated p-Block Elements (CLCPE), and Biological Inorganic Chemistry (BIC).
The research activities conducted in our group aim for the synthesis and characterization of some element-organic derivatives containing low coordinated p-block elements (such as heavy heteroallenes, metalylenes, etc). The compounds are synthesized under controlled atmosphere, in an air and moisture free environment, using Schlenk and glove-box techniques. The element-organic derivatives are used as ligands to obtain new coordination compounds as well as precursors for materials with controlled properties. Apart from the Schlenk-lines, the laboratory is equipped with a glove-box, and high purity solvents are obtained with an MBraun Automated Purifying System.
