BENCZE László Csaba

e-mail: cslbencze(at)chem.ubbcluj.ro

Csaba started the project at the application level in 2015 and hopes he survives successfully all the five years of the project. Fortunately the highly motivated and competent members of his earlier RU-TE project continued with him on the PROMYS, providing a proper start of the project. He believes in his team and in the project and hopefully the result will confirm him.

Mădălina Elena MOISĂ

Postdoctoral Researcher

Mădălina Elena MOISĂ

e-mail: mem_mada(at)yahoo.com

Mada joined the Biocatalysis and Biotransformation Research Group in 2011 as an undergraduate student in Biochemical Engineering, while working for her bachelor thesis. Since then, she is with the group, currently as PhD student in her last year under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Monica Ioana Toşa. Meanwhile she accumulated large experience in chemoenzymatic procedures, enzyme immobilization, organic synthesis, isolation, purification and spectral analysis of organic compounds (NMR, MS), chiral high performance liquid and gas chromatography, design and control of biocatalytic processes. In this year she joined the project with the aim to continue the work with HTS-assays and to develop the site-specific immobilization. We are very happy to have her in our group.

Alina FILIP

Postdoctoral Researcher

Alina FILIP

e-mail: filip_alina_m(@)yahoo.com

Ph.D student Filip Alina as biologist joined the Biocatalysis and Biotransformation Research Center at 2013, when she started her Ph.D work under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Florin Dan Irimie. In 2014 she joined the RU-TE project, working on MIO-enzymes and subsequently the PROMYS project. Her skills and competences are: molecular cloning, expression, isolation and purification of proteins, site-directed mutagenesis, electrophoresis techniques, enzyme kinetics, enzyme assays. In 2017 Alina was granted with an assistant professorship, being responsible for laboratory courses of Basic and Advanced Biochemistry.
She likes poetry, painting and her work. "If you do tomorrow what you did today, you will get tomorrow what you got today".

Diana TORK SOUAD

Doctoral Student

Diana TORK SOUAD

e-mail: ida_souad(at)yahoo.com

Souad-Diana Tork joined our research team in 2013, in her second year of study of the B. Sc. During these years she managed to obtain several scholarships, including World Federation of Scientist (WFS) Scholarships and Scientific Performance Scholarship working on the research which she continues also on her Ph.D study: Novel mutant MIO-enzymes for the synthesis of unnatural amino acids.
Diana has made conspicuous progress by assimilating basic techniques used in our laboratories such as: overexpression of recombinant proteins in Escherichia coli, purification and analysis of such proteins (Ni-NTA affinity chromatography, SDS-PAGE electrophoresis, Western Blot), UV-vis spectroscopy, HPLC spectroscopy, TECAN Spark® multimode reader, primer design (site-directed mutagenesis), PCR (polymerase chain reaction ), DNA isolation.
Diana is now a Ph.D student under the supervision of Prof. Eng. Florin-Dan Irimie and is committed to permanently improve her practical capabilities and theoretical knowledge.

VARGA Andrea

Postdoctoral Researcher

VARGA Andrea

e-mail: andrea_nitta(at)yahoo.com

Andi currently joined the PROMYS project, but has several year experience on MIO-enzymes, also her Ph.D work performed within the Biocatalysis and Biotransformation Research Center was based on PAL and PAM mediated biotransformation. Despite she helps us out on short-term on our vacant postdoc position, we can fully exploit her knowledge and experience in enzyme kinetics, molecular cloning, enzyme isolation and purification techniques.
