The Research
Center, CECHIF-UBB, consists of five laboratories:
• the thermodynamics laboratory offers
facilities for physical chemistry characterization of various systems,
including the colloidal and supramolecular systems, bioceramics as powders
and pastes, composites and polymers; phase transitions, like glass
transition; thermal stability of antibacterial materials
• the Langmuir-Blodgett technique (LBT) and
LBT Laboratory used to fabricate
self-assemblies and supramolecular structures of organic molecules at the
chosen lateral surface pressure and to measure the surface potential of
biomolecules; to characterize the miscibility of various biocomponents in
oriented systems, such as model membranes, monolayers and thin films
• the laboratory of AFM and STM imaging used
for surface characterization of thin films, nanostructurated multifunctional
biomaterials and innovative composite materials, with or without metallic
nanoparticles; nanomechanics on polymer fibers; force curves spectroscopy;
surface roughness; biomineralization of collagen and dentin
• the laboratory for synthesis of nanobiostructures (Nano
Biomaterials) used for the fabrication of nanostructured
materials and of advanced processed biomaterials; bioceramics synthesized
via intelligent solutions of eco- nanotechnology; pilot scale: synthesis
reactor for nanobiomaterials; hybrid nanomaterials for medical applications
• the laboratory of advanced optical measurements and
chemical structure offers facilities for the investigation of gold
and silver nanoparticles formation and for their functionalization with
various organic molecules; gold nanoparticles functionalized with drugs and
antioxidants represent potential tools in cancer treatment; encapsulation of
drugs to increase their biological performances
