Abstract
The organometallic chemistry of tin, particularly the investigation of the compounds with direct metal-carbon bond, is an attractive research field, the interest shown by the international scientific community this topic being justified by the outstanding results obtained in a large variety of areas, both of fundamental (the nature of the metal-carbon bond, unusual organometallic species, ligands in the coordination chemistry of the transition metals, supramolecular associations, etc.) and applied interest (polymerization catalysts, specific reagents in organic synthesis, precursors for unconventional materials, biologically active compounds, etc.). The proposed research activities will be focused on:
- design, synthesis and the characterization of the organic iminic ligands that exhibit intra- and intermolecular coordination abilities, with one or more C=N bond;
- design of compounds of the type RnSnX4-n, RmR'nSnCl4-(m+n) [R = the above mentioned iminic ligands with one C=N bond; R' = 2-(Me2NCH2)C6H4, organic group], characterization in the solid state and the study of their dynamical behaviour in solution;
- design of compounds of the type X4-(n+m)R'mSnRnSnR'mX4-(n+m) [R = the above mentioned iminic ligands with more than one C=N bond; R' = 2-(Me2NCH2)C6H4, organic group; n = 1-4, m = 0-3, 2 ≤ n+m ≤ 4], characterization in the solid state and the study of their dynamical behaviour in solution;
- investigation of the chemical reactivity of these compounds (e.g. halogen exchange, reactions with inorganic salts), synthesis and characterization of stable, water soluble organometallic species (carbonates, nitrates, phophates, etc.).
