The main research direction of the group refers to the innovative domain of Supramolecular Chemistry. On one side, we are interested in the synthesis, structural analysis and "host-guest" systems of new coronands, cryptands, cyclophanes and molecular "cages" and on the other side we investigate supramolecular self-assembled architectures based on H-bonds or hydrophobic contacts. In addition we recently started research in the field of adaptative chemistry, MOFs and COFs, and functional adaptive/responsive membranes for environmental applications.
The numerous international collaborations of the group (France, Canada, Spain, and Germany) increased the level of the scientific research in the group. These collaborations encouraged the exchange of the students between the laboratories and the development of joined PhD programs.
