International Conference ”Students for Students” - ICSFS XVIIth edition - 2021

Welcome to ICSFS 2021 - online edition

The International Conference ”Students for Students” is designed for undergraduate and master’s students in the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering. It is hosted by the Chemistry Students Organization with the help of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the Babeș-Bolyai University and the Romanian Chemical Society, Cluj-Napoca branch.
The XVIIth edition will take place, from 21 to 25 April 2021, as a complete virtual experience.

About ICSFS 2021

The conference is structured into 3 main sections: Posters, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. The participants can present their work as posters or as oral presentations. For guidelines, please see section „General Information”.
The official language of the event is English, consequently, all presentations will be held in English.
The scientific committee comprises of distinguished professors from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Cluj-Napoca. They are going to evaluate the participants’ research papers by taking into consideration their scientific relevance, originality and the knowledge level on the subject matter of the participants. After this evaluation, they are going to award prizes for each section. Moreover, each year, The Romanian Chemical Society has awarded special prizes.
Furthermore, in this edition, the professors and the postgraduates of our faculty are going to present the research projects they are working on, in order to show to their younger fellow researchers that research is vital in improving the quality of life.
The organizing committee is keen to offer the participants a complete virtual experience by carefully blending academic, social and cultural activities. The participants will have the chance not only to virtually meet fellow young chemists from many European Universities but also to learn from more experienced researchers.

    Due to the fact that the conference will be held online this year, as a complete virtual experience, there will be no fee required

Who are we?

The Chemistry Students’ Organization Cluj-Napoca is a non-governmental organization with a rich activity background, being founded in 1991 by a group of ambitious students from the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in Cluj-Napoca. The organization was founded to uphold and promote the interests of students from the faculty, its activities reaching out from scientific, cultural or social domains all the way to professional evolution of the students.
The backbone of the organization is the Board of Directors, formed of the Directors of the departments, the Secretary, the Auditor, the Vice-President and the President. They oversee the entire management and well being of the organization. Each year new members are being recruited and assigned to one of the four departments of their choice: Academic Activities, Human Resources, Media&PR and Finances.
Over the years the organization has continuously extended its activities. At the present time we are upholding annually over 8 projects, a landmark in the history of our development being the conception of the Students for Students Conference which had its first edition in the year 2003. At that time it started as internal project addressed to the students of the faculty of chemistry, but over the years it evolved reaching the status of international conference with participants from all across the world, hosting in the year 2019 the 16th edition.
As volunteering is the form of activity, the driving force for the involvement of the members is their own desire to improve the quality of experiences for both themselves and for fellow students and future generations. The organization upholds these ideas and promotes activities which intend to bring students in the foreground of the university life.
